We are excited to announce that CartoConsult have hired two Game Tech Developers from the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, to enhance our expertise in location-based Augmented Reality services.
Shaun Landy and Samuel Morris come to CartoConsult highly recommended by Andy King, Associate Professor of Technology & Innovation at UWE, and solidifies the partnership between the university and CartoConsult. Innovation is key to everything we undertake at CartoConsult and adding Shaun and Sam’s gaming expertise to our already impressive 3DGIS development skill set will enable us to keep evolving, innovating and providing the best possible location-based managed services to our customers.
Shaun will initially begin work on our consumer facing 3DGIS project in Kuwait, being lead by Geoff Blissitt, our Head of GIS & BIM and Dave Rowe, our Chief Technical Officer. Sam will be working closely with both myself, Dave and Peter Davis on the Innovate UK funded Visualise project, where we will be continuing our research into location-based data Augmented and Mixed Reality technology for construction and Asset & Facilities Management. This project will require extensive knowledge of back-end GIS being integrated with existing IT systems and visualised simply with AR and MR hardware such as, Microsoft Hololens and Daqri smart helmets and rugged glasses in which CartoConsult develop software for through the Carto3D™ framework.
Open source technology and collaboration is the key to the success of large infrastructure projects and this research will allow us to stay as one of the leading suppliers of location-based GIS services in this sector.
We have many planning, landscape architects, real estate agents and local authority clients who are very interested in our progress with this technology and development of our Carto3D™ immersive software. We look forward to sharing our development progress, and as always, please do not hesitate to contact myself or one of the team to see how we can support your projects with our immersive technology.
